Know Before You Go

Venue Information

Flat Earth Theatre performs at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, located at 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown MA 02472. We've put together some information to help you get the most out of your visit. For building maps, and additional transit and accessibility information, please see the Mosesian Center for the Arts’ (MCA) website: www.mosesianarts.org

Accessibility

Flat Earth Theatre takes the accessibility needs of our patrons very seriously. Though we have limited means to meet those needs as a fringe theater company, we will make an effort to do so, to the best of our ability, whenever possible. We are better able to meet those needs with advance notice. For accessible seating, early seating, space for a service animal, or any other accessibility needs or questions, please contact us through our website.

We always offer large-print programs. Trained service animals are welcome at all our performances. We offer ASL-interpreted performances on occasion. Unfortunately, we do not offer assistive listening devices or audio-described performances at this time.

Getting Around the MCA Building and the Black Box Theater

Ground Floor Map of MCAThe sidewalk and patio in front of the MCA main entrance has fairly deep contraction joints (i.e. cracks), is uneven in places, and is not level in others. When approaching the MCA from Kingsbury Ave., there is a slight and lengthy incline leading up to the MCA.

There are 2 sets of double doors (pull to open) to get into the MCA. The left-hand door of each set is equipped with a button-operated automatic door opener.

We perform in the Black Box Theater, which is towards the rear of the ground floor. To find the Black Box: enter through the front doors, turn left and go past the grand staircase, then turn right (before entering the bar area) and proceed straight ahead. The door to the Black Box will be in front of you at the end of a short hallway. There are no stairs to get into the Black Box.

Chairs in the theater have arms and are approximately 18” wide. Armless chairs are available. For a chair without arms, please contact us in advance via our website or let the House Manager know when you arrive at the theater.

Once inside the theater, there will be seats available at floor level and on 2-3 ascending risers. Each riser is approximately a 6” step up.

There is seating available in armless chairs in the MBar for anyone who needs it before the performance. The MBar opens approximately 1 hour prior to curtain. Depending on the performance, there may also be chairs in the lobby.

Restrooms

Men’s and women’s restrooms are located on the ground floor. Accessible stalls and baby changing areas are available in both of these restrooms. There are all-gender restrooms located on the second and third floors of the building. These are accessible via stairs or an elevator.

Getting There

Via the MBTA

The MCA is located on the 70 and 70A bus routes about halfway between the Talcott Ave. and School St. stops. From the Talcott Ave. stop: turn onto Talcott Ave. from Arsenal St., then take your first right onto Wooley Ave., continue slightly more than one block. The entrance to the MCA will be on your left just past Thornton Ave. From the School St. stop: cross Arsenal street and continue down it to your left, turn right on Kingsbury Ave. and continue for one block, turn left and walk past the Panera Bread. The entrance to the MCA will be on your right.

Via The Ride

The Ride drops off at the corner of Wooley Ave. and Thornton Ave. The entrance to the Mosesian is to your left under the awning.

Using GPS, Lyft, Uber, etc.

While the address of the MCA is 321 Arsenal St., it is often easiest to find via GPS (and to instruct drivers using GPS) by setting the destination as the intersection of Wooley Ave. and Thornton Ave. in Watertown, MA.

Zipcar

There is a Zipcar drop off/pick up in the parking garage just across Kingsbury Ave. from the MCA.

By Bicycle

There are bike racks located immediately outside the MCA front entrance under the awning. Arsenal St. has bike lanes on both sides.

Parking

There is a free, 6-floor parking garage located across Kingsbury Ave. from the MCA. There are also many other free ground-level parking spots located around the Arsenal on the Charles campus. Please pay attention to signage, as some spots are permit-only and others have time restrictions (e.g. 2 hours).

Accessible Parking

The closest available accessible parking spaces are just to the right of the MCA main entrance, at the corner of Wooley Ave. and Thornton Ave. There are 2 spaces, along with a ramp for sidewalk access. There are 2 additional accessible parking spaces roughly 50 yards further down Thornton Ave.

Box Office Information and Policies

We have merged box offices with the MCA! If your tickets are at “Will Call” or you have purchased through a ticket vendor, such as Gold Star or BosTix, please stop by the MCA Box Office (just to your right as you enter the MCA) to pick up your physical tickets before proceeding to the Black Box.

The Box Office is open from 12-5 PM Tuesday through Saturday, as well as 2 hours before curtain on performance days.

The Theater opens approximately 15 minutes before curtain for most performances. For sold-out performances, it will likely open sooner.

Sold-out Performances

In the event a performance is sold out, patrons who are not seated in the theater at curtain time forfeit their tickets to patrons on the waitlist. Please arrive on time!

Patrons who do not have tickets to a sold-out performance but would like to see it should come to the MCA Box Office in person at least 1 hour prior to curtain time. They will be waitlisted on a first come-first served basis. Being waitlisted does not guarantee a seat, and it is extremely unlikely that waitlisted patrons will be able to sit with their parties. At curtain time, waitlisted patrons will be able to purchase tickets in list order from the Box Office as space allows.

Late Seating

The availability and quantity of latecomer seating will vary by production. Some shows will have NO late seating whatsoever. Patrons are strongly encouraged to arrive at the theater with time to spare--at minimum ten minutes before curtain.

Group Seating

All of our shows are General Admission. We cannot guarantee that parties will be able to sit together. However, arriving at the theater early will allow patrons the best choice of seats.
